Other names:  Kleinmann's Tortoise.
Size:  Up to 14 cm.
Distribution:  Northern Libya and Egypt. Even in recent publications the Egyptian tortoise is said to live in Israel and the Sinai Peninsula (Egypt), but these populations are now regarded as a separate species, the Negev tortoise (Testudo werneri), first described in 2002.
