Reticulated Python
(Python reticulatus)
Familie: Pythons (Pythonidae)
Orden: Squamates or Scaly Reptiles (Squamata)

Other names:  Regal Python.
Size:  The longest measured, reliable length (according to Murphy & Henderson 1997, see references) of a Reticulated Python seems to be 10,06 m (33 feet), although there is no exact definition of the term reliable. Reports of specimens of both Reticulated Pythons and South American Anacondas (and even other snake species as well) reaching much greater lengths exist, but these reports are more or less dubious and certainly impossible to verify. Obviously, this is particularly the case for reports made on the basis of hearsay.
Distribution:  Southeast Asia and Australasian Islands (India (only the Nicobar Islands), Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia)

The Reticulated Python may be the longest snake species living. The only "rival" to this title, the South American Anaconda, is far heavier, though, thus making the Anaconda the largest living species of snake.
