Size:  Highly variable from one population to another. In some populations adults reach 3.5 cm, in others 6.0 cm, even 7.0 cm. In case of the Blue Poison Frog, the females reach 4.5 cm, the males 4.0 cm.

Distribution:  Northern South America (Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana, northern Brazil, eastern Venezuela).

Notes:  Some zoologists regard the Blue Poison Frog (D. azureus) as a variety of the Dyeing Poison Frog.

The Dyeing Poison Frog is found in a number of populations which differ so much from one another that you would think they belong to different species, but they are in fact only varieties of the same species. This colour morph is the typical one.
