Size:  Usually 50-60 cm, max. above 80 cm.
Distribution:  Southern Mexico (Chiapas) through Central America to northwestern South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela).

Even though this baby Eyelash Palm Pitviper was less than a day old when the photo was taken, it was able to defend itself right from the start.

The Eyelash Palm Pitviper is found in a number of varieties of which the yellow morph, called the oropel, probably is the most spectacular.
