Size:  Usually less than 2.00 m, maximum lenght expected to be less than 4.00 m. Previous reports of specimens above 6.00 m were based on anacondas (Eunectes murinus).
Distribution:  From Mexico through Central and South America to northern Argentina, as well as a few West Indian islands.
